Combine the demands of a high-intensity job with the restrictions of a global pandemic, and it creates the urgency for a much-needed outdoor refuge. It certainly did for this longtime client in Bethesda, MD, who entrusted us with expeditiously building a sanctuary befitting of their idyllic property, without compromising on our high standards for quality. The existing elements of the property, from rustic mailbox to faux-candle lanterns, already teased of a secret garden behind the charming farmhouse-style gates. In harmony with this narrative, we honed in on nuance and detail. Unobtrusive lighting surrounding the generous fire pit creates an abiding sense of light and warmth. A grill area alongside a dining nook invites breaking bread with friends. Both pool and jacuzzi are homage to the particular serenity only water offers. Beyond mere safe haven, the backyard became a complete destination unto itself. Like the unconditional love found at the end of every good storybook, it will provide comfort in perpetuity, and wholeheartedly welcome all.
