D. Blake Dunlevy, PLA

The roots of Blake’s education reach back to a childhood that was soaked in the green industry and guided by the hand of his father, one of the industry’s great craftsmen and standard-bearers. Blake officially began his career as a designer and apprentice for his father in 2004, after studying Landscape Architecture at West Virginia University – the place where his true passion for design was fostered and given outlet. A determined pursuit of understanding – paired with a knowledge base that began forming early in life – has turned Blake into one of the mostly widely proficient Landscape Architects in our region. His competencies extend past the bounds of landscape design into the fields of arboriculture, construction design, advanced drainage and foundation waterproofing systems, pool construction and beyond. Blake’s vast expertise in multiple disciplines makes him an invaluable mentor to our staff, while his thoughtful creativity and careful attention to detail make him an incredible designer for our customers.
Blake officially assumed the role of President of D. A. Dunlevy in 2016. As President, Blake manages quality control, project efficiency, design strategy, and team development. Though he wears many hats, Landscape Architecture and Design are the foundation of each project and Blake personally guides each one through that process. Whether it involves visioning from a blank canvas, enhancing an existing environment, or maintaining a legacy garden, Blake’s philosophy always beckons us to start with good design.
